6 Surprisingly Quick And Easy Ways To Feel Happier
All of us have days when we're out of sorts. You just wish you were in a better mood.
You've had days like that, haven't you?
Sometimes we get stuck in our own spin out of negative thoughts and feelings and forget how easy it is to feel happier, so here are seven simple ways to lift your mood. Practical shit. Thats what I’m all about.
1. Go for a walk (preferably with a dog!)
Most people know that going for a short daily walk is one of the best and easiest forms of exercise. When you are feeling down it is even more beneficial. If you can, try and go into nature, even if youre in a city, being in a park surrounded by trees just feels good. Take some deep breaths of outside air. Feel your feet on the ground. Make it real by taking a short stroll. Bonus points for bringing a furry friend, dogs make everything better.
2. Listen to hype music.
Music can shift a listener's state within moments. It's effect can be nearly magical. Spotify has an amazing selection of mood based playlists that are pre-made for you! Find one that vibes with you and put your headphones in. Life hack- do this on your walk for double the good mood!
3. Open yourself to discovering something new.
Read something (printed, not on line) different than what you would normally watch. You can do this for cheap/free online or at your local library. My personal favorite is Ted talks, I love to watch them or listen to them while i drive. Try and pick a topic you would not normally pick and surprise yourself!
4. Find something to laugh at.
Laughter is one of the best ways to lift your spirits. Netflix has an amazing selection of stand up comedy specials, I love to put one on while I’m decompressing or even while doing things like folding laundry or cleaning the kitchen.
5. Simple breathing meditation.
Breathing meditation is a great exercise that you can do anywhere. Simply allow yourself to sit comfortably with your back straight. Now close your eyes and become aware of the flow of air into and out of your nostrils. That's all there is to it. Do this for 10-15 minutes. If you have trouble meditating, there are tons of guided meditations on youtube and spotify to help you get into it.
6. Attitude of Gratitude
The fact that you are reading this article suggests that you are probably much better off than most people on this planet. At times this may be hard to believe, but if you can read and have access to the internet, just those two things alone means you are better off than most people in the world. Take 5 minutes to look around and repeat this gratitude mantra “I appreciate the abundance in my life and I allow myself to expand in gratitude, success and joy everyday.”
None of this is ground breaking info… These are all pretty simple. There's nothing profound or life changing, but when all you need is a quick pick me up these may be just the thing you need.
Putting simple ideas, methods, tools and techniques into action will help you achieve change more quick and easily--surprisingly so at time-- than you imagine.
